Protect your catalyst. Protect your bottom line. Opportunity feed sources have extended the range of poisons that hydroprocessing unit operators must face. Many of the contaminants can cause severe catalyst poisoning, even at very low concentrations. Catalyst contamination negatively impacts your return on investment, which is why Criterion Catalysts & Technologies (Criterion) has committed unique R&D resources to solve the contaminant problems you face every day.
Criterion offers SENTRY™ Guard Catalysts and Support an entire portfolio of products dedicated to protecting hydroprocessing operations from feedstock contaminants. SENTRY offers prevention, diagnosis and resolution of contamination issues — protecting your catalyst investment and, ultimately, your bottom line.
Better Science, Better Solutions
A better solution starts with a better diagnosis; but since each case has individual challenges, diagnosis can take many paths. Criterion’s experts use unique research facilities to conduct in-depth analyses to aid in determining the underlying root cause of the problem, enabling the formulation of appropriately customised solutions.
Better Diagnosis: Feedstock Poison Detection
An often elusive detail of diagnostic analysis is proper characterisation of contaminants. SENTRY includes innovative methods of feedstock characterisation capable of identifying contaminants in the parts-per-billion range. Such ultra-low detection of feed poisons allows proactive and relevant monitoring of contaminants.
Better Science: Focused Research and Development
A better diagnosis allows better application of science. Mitigation of reactor fouling and feed poison problems in hydroprocessing units has historically been trial and error, partly because the science had not been developed sufficiently to provide robust solutions. Criterion has focused R&D programs to extend current understanding of feed-poisoning and reactor-fouling mechanisms. A unique pilot plant at our Amsterdam research laboratory extends basic deep-bed filtration theory to hydroprocessing catalysts. This innovative work is further enhancing the effectiveness of the developed grading systems, and together with our industry experience serves as the backbone of the SENTRY reactor fouling portfolio and application guidelines.
