LANXESS chooses Burckhardt Compression for new equipment and revamp

One of the leading companies for speciality chemicals, LANXESS, has chosen Burckhardt Compression to deliver one Process Gas Compressor for their chemical production site in Leverkusen, Germany. LANXESS selected Burckhardt Compression due to the extensive experience in the compression of high pressure ethylene. In addition, Burckhardt Compression (Deutschland) GmbH has been awarded an order from LANXESS to revamp two existing Process Gas Compressors.

Burckhardt Compression recorded an order from LANXESS, Germany, to deliver one Process Gas Compressor for their chemical production site. The compressor will be used to compress ethylene from 17 to 495 bara.

This specific compression process requires extensive knowledge within the sealing technology, an accurate material selection for the severe operating conditions as well as reliability and high availability for the equipment offered. Burckhardt Compression has decades of experience in in-house tribology research and therefore extensive expertise for such applications.

Two existing high-pressure ethylene compressors will be revamped by the Service Center of Burckhardt Compression (Deutschland) GmbH in Neuss, Germany. After the revamp the MTBO (mean time between overhaul) will be substantially enhanced.

Productivity and availability improvements or changing compression requirements of existing reciprocating compressors often call for revamps or up-ratings. With Burckhardt Compression's in-house state-of-the-art sizing and finite element analysis tools professional specialists are able to model and calculate any existing reciprocating compressor to improve compressor operation, increase load or re-engineer parts.

Process Gas Compressors represent highest availability and a long mean time between overhaul, also thanks to in-house engineered and manufactured high quality compressor components and valves. Practice oriented design principles result in easy maintenance work and short downtime for overhauls. Burckhardt Compression’s aim is to deliver compressor solutions with lowest life cycle costs. The company’s Process Gas Compressors API 618 are used in the refinery and petrochemical/chemical industry as well as for industrial gases and gas transport and storage.
