Alfa Laval wins SEK 50 million energy efficiency order in South Africa

Alfa Laval, a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling has won an order from Wärtsilä to supply Alfa Laval Aalborg waste heat recovery system to a gas-fired power plant in South Africa. The order, booked in the Marine & Diesel Equipment segment late December 2012, has a value of approximately SEK 50 million. Delivery is scheduled for 2013.

The Alfa Laval Aalborg heat recovery boilers will be installed in a newly built power plant in Sasolburg where they will recover waste heat from the gas engines’ exhaust gases and utilize this energy to generate superheated steam for the refinery process of the nearby ethylene production plant.

“Our Alfa Laval Aalborg waste heat recovery systems are used in a wide range of applications, where they save fuel and hence reduce emissions by reusing energy that otherwise would be wasted”, says Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. “By using these systems the plant owners improve their bottom line and make their processes more sustainable.”
