Fluor and JGC JV awarded EPC contract by Chevron Phillips Chemical

Fluor Corporation and JGC Corporation announced today that their 50/50 joint venture was awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP for its U.S. Gulf Coast (USGC) Petrochemicals Project. Fluor booked its share of the undisclosed  contract value in the third quarter of 2013.

The project consists of the ethylene unit (cracker) and associated  offsite components to be built at Chevron Phillips Chemical’s existing Cedar Bayou complex in Baytown, Texas. Fluor’s scope includes engineering and procurement for the outside battery limit scope as well as direct hire construction for the entire cracker project.

“This project represents the first EPC opportunity to be executed by our  newly formed association with JGC,” said Peter Oosterveer, president of  Fluor’s Energy & Chemicals Group. “The U.S. Gulf Coast continues to play  a significant role in the chemicals market and our depth of resources and breadth of experience will create value for our client and support their success throughout the project.”

Project work is under way and will be performed from Fluor’s Houston  office with assistance from its Philippines offices.
