Indian Oil Corporation inks MoU with Numaligarh refinery and Paradip port
Indian Oil Corporation Limited entered into an MoU with Numaligarh Refinery Limited and Paradip Port Trust in a glittering ceremony at Bhubaneswar in presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Honourable Minister for Road Transport, Highways & Shipping, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honourable Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Finance Minister, Govt. of Assam, Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Commerce & Industry Minister, Govt. of Assam, Shri Anish Aggarwal Director (Pipelines), Chairman Paradip Port Trust (PPT), MD Numaligarh Refinery Ltd.
Numaligarh Refinery Limited has planned to expand the refining capacity of its refinery from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA. Under the expansion plan, a crude oil pipeline from Paradip Port in Odisha to Numaligarh in Assam is proposed.
IndianOil is having a state of the art crude oil unloading system through Single Point Mooring System at Paradip Port to meet crude oil requirements of its refineries at Paradip, Haldia, Barauini and Bongaigaon. NRL has expressed their interest to explore the possibility of utilizing the existing SPM System of IOCL for import of crude oil for the proposed expansion of its refinery at Numaligarh.
Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan louded the efforts of Indian Oil for securing the oil demand of North Eastern states through the Paradip Haldia Barauni, Guwahati Siliguri Pipelines. He said that the Centre is planning to expand the capacity of the port at Paradip and set up a crude oil terminal to be used to meet oil requirement of east Asia.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Gadkari said the Union government has planned to make Paradip as the growth engine not only for the development of Odisha but for the entire North Eastern states. He said around Rs 7,000 crore would be invested in the project out of which Rs 1,000 crore would be invested in Paradip. Similarly huge Investment would also be made in Assam.
On their arrival the hon'ble ministers were welcomed by Shri Anish Aggarwal, Director (Pipelines), Shri A.K.Tiwari, ED(Operations), Shri P.C.Choubey, ED SERPL, Shri S.Ganguly, GM ( Systems) and other senior IOC officials.
The tripartiate MoU was signed between ED (Operations) Pipelines Shri A.K. Tewari, Paradip Port Trust Chairman Shri Rinkesh Roy, NRL Director (Technical) Shri B.J. Phukan.
