Samsung Engineering awarded olefin plant contract from PTTGC

Samsung Engineering announced on October 24 that it has signed an EPC contract with ORT (Olefins Reconfiguration Project) with Thailand's PTTGC (PTT Global Chemical Public Co.). The top executives of Samsung Eng. Choi Sung-Ahn, President of PTTGC Supattanapong and TTCL Wanchai Project General Manager attended the contract ceremony held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong on the 23rd.

The project is to construct an olefin plant at the Maputput Industrial Complex in Rayong City, about 150km southeast of Bangkok, Thailand. When the plant is completed in 2020, it will produce 500,000 tons of ethylene per year and 250,000 tons of propylene per year. Samsung Engineering won this project in cooperation with TTCL (TTCL Public Company), a local Thai company, with total orders worth W880bn (about W670bn from Samsung).

Samsung Engineering has strengthened its trust with PTTGC. PTTGC is an affiliate of PTT, the largest state-owned energy company in Thailand. Samsung Engineering has successfully completed five projects including PTCGC EO / EG project of PTTGC and is carrying out GC Oxirane PO (Propylene Oxide) project. In addition, the relationship with PTT also increased to the 19th. Samsung Engineering has been conducting PTT projects for more than 20 years since 1991, among which the GSP-6 project was awarded the "Distinguished Project Award" by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Samsung Engineering has proven its ability to perform projects worldwide.

In addition to partnership with clients, Samsung Engineering is planning to successfully carry out the project based on experience in Thailand and understanding of ethylene products. Samsung Engineering has carried out more than 20 projects in Thailand and currently has 4 projects including ORP projects. In the field of ethylene, Samsung Engineering has a lot of experience as one of its flagship products.
