International Downstream-Tech Vietnam 2019

Event Description

With increasing domestic and regional demand for both fuel and petrochemical products, some South East Asia countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia have developed or planned new mega projects as key infrastructure to support their economic growth. In Vietnam the NSRP refinery is due to start-up shortly and the Long Son Petrochemical complex is moving closer to realization with EPC awards imminent. Malaysia’s PETRONAS is having the RAPID/PIC due to start-up in 2019. Looking at the bigger picture, there are some major challenges for both Vietnam and Asian downstream players to tackle: shortage of investment budget, unimproved policy and regulations, securing feedstock and threat of over capacity and competitive US export products.

Industry 4.0 and digitalization are driving change in the downstream industry, increasing efficiency and reducing the number of workers required to manage and operate refineries and petrochemical plants. A few ASEAN NOCs have begun their journey of digitalization. The industry will witness how the Industry 4.0 and digitalization will finally enhance competitiveness to get a better chance of survival and growth.

Downstream players, no matter that manage new or old infrastructures, are always in pursuit of higher margin and efficiency and lower cost through operational excellence, integrated asset management and adoption of improved processing technologies.

The 4th International Downstream-Tech Vietnam Conference aims to tackle all the above-mentioned issues and challenges for Vietnam and Asian downstream industry. The event will continue to be the platform for global and regional downstream project investors; policy makers and regulators and refinery and petrochemical plant operators to network and exchange minds and insights and witness how future is being shaped.
