Drilling fluid/mud is a complex mixture of several components. However, it can be temperamental due to downhole pressure and the mud’s materials affecting its behavior. To mitigate this, additives such as AP-22 are used to control the mud in downhole drilling and manage the volume and speed of the mud that comes back up. We’re part of something special! Nicole Wilde has been part of the Catalysts family since 2018. Starting off as a Lab Manager and moving her way up to now Head of Technology Center, Microporous Materials in our Hanau space in Germany! Her time is mostly spent in innovation areas as her responsibilities include production transfer, production support and quality management. A manager and a mother, she is supported, seen and heard – and does the same for her team. She has always been interested in science, she was curious and because her parents saw that spark they fueled it gifting her a microscope as a child. Little did her mother know she would put her lunch box by the window so it would grow mold on it and she could see it in her microscope 😃. Her surroundings also contributed in her developing her love for science since she lived in an area in which the majority of employment was in the chemical industry, so she came from a family that worked in the chemical industry as well. Her love for application-oriented chemistry came during her Masters in Chemistry, where she decided to focus on chemical technology. After her PhD in heterogeneous catalysis she became a group leader at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Leipzig University where she focused on catalytic materials for sustainable processes. Nicole is focused on continuing to work on sustainable catalysts - “I’m proud to be part of the Catalysts family! Our research can make a decisive contribution to a sustainable future”.
