HTRI acquires SmartPM™ fouling management software and services

HTRI, a leading provider of research, software, and services to the thermal process industries, today announced the acquisition of SmartPM™ from IHS Markit, a global business information provider.

SmartPM is monitoring data analysis, modeling, and predictive maintenance software for heat exchanger networks that includes methodology for optimizing refinery preheat train operation. It enables oil refinery operators to better manage and reduce maintenance, improve energy efficiency, and reduce emissions and operating costs.

“We are extraordinarily pleased to add this highly-regarded software tool to our expanding portfolio of products and services designed to predict, analyze, and mitigate crude oil fouling, one of the costliest problems facing the refining industry today,” said Claudette D. Beyer, HTRI’s President & CEO.

Beyer continued, “I am also elated to announce that SmartPM lead developers Simon Pugh and Edward Ishiyama have joined HTRI as full-time staff to continue development of this and other products to address industry needs. We gratefully and eagerly welcome them.”

“Edward and I are thrilled to be joining HTRI,” added Pugh, “and we look forward to making SmartPM an even more valuable tool in the future with the incorporation of HTRI’s advanced proprietary methods and predictive algorithms.”

SmartPM, one of the world’s most desired performance analysis and predictive maintenance tools for preheat trains and heat exchanger networks, joins HTRI’s Edgeview™ consulting service and industry-leading applied research program as part of HTRI’s ongoing commitment to addressing key industry problems.
