OMV and Borealis will welcome CIS and CEE refining and petchem managers in Vienna

According to the Spotlight on Oil and Gas Mega Projects Report by EY, 64% of the oil & gas mega projects are facing cost overruns, and 73% of the projects are reporting schedule delays.

It is obvious that the industry needs to understand the challenges associated with the delivery of megaprojects, to identify key factors that could result in cost/ time overruns, and to determine how controllable they are. Why is it so crucial? Because companies which develop a reputation for successful and timely delivery of megaprojects will often gain cheaper finance and see an increase in share price. In the times of lower oil prices, it is more timely than ever.

That is why refining and petrochemicals managers from Russia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe are coming to Vienna on 2nd-3rd November for the CIS & CEE Downstream Project Management Conference to share their experience of delivering projects to schedule and ensuring cost optimisation.

Official partners of the conference, OMV and Borealis, will welcome attendees to the Schwechat refinery and Borealis plant during the technical visit, which will take place at the end of the conference. The integrated refinery and petrochemical complex in Schwechat is among the largest and most complex inland refineries and petrochemical plants in Europe.

Among the conference attendees are vice-presidents and project managers of Lukoil, Gazprom Neft, Sibur, Taneco, Bashneft, SOCAR, KazMunayGas and Uzbekneftergaz.

“As the organisers of this event, we have set ourselves the task of providing the perfect platform for sharing experiences and best practices in project management, modernisation and engineering”, says Jivko Gadjourov, CEO of GBC Ltd, the official organizer of the conference.
