Chevron Lummus Global announces residue upgrading award in India
Chevron Lummus Global LLC, is pleased to announce its selection by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to provide licensed technology for the new residue upgrading unit for its Visakhapatanam Refinery Modernization Project in India. CLG will design the unit employing its proprietary LC-MAX™ and ISOTREATING® technologies. The scope of work also includes the supply of catalysts, proprietary reactor internals, and training and technical services.
“CLG is honored to be selected by HPCL as its licensor for the core unit to convert heavy residues which is a cornerstone of its refinery expansion strategy. With this license, CLG’s LC-MAX technology will be employed for the second vacuum residue upgrading unit in India,” said Leon de Bruyn, CLG’s Managing Director. “This project will enable HPCL to convert the heaviest oils in its refinery and produce high-quality Euro-VI diesel while eliminating fuel oil production. Ebullated bed technologies offer unparalleled reliability and feedstock and product flexibility.”
CLG’s LC-MAX technology combines the reliable ebullated bed residue hydrocracking and the solvent deasphalting processes and provides over 90% conversion of vacuum residue to lighter, premium products. The flexibility and high-conversion rates achieved by the technologies enable customers to reach a balance between stringent product specifications, and product yield.
