GTC Technology acquired by Sulzer

On May 1, 2019, GTC Technology became a part of Sulzer Chemtech. Sulzer’s goal in acquiring GTC is to gain market entry into the technology licensing business and build its Chemtech division’s position in the industry as a leading provider of state-of-the-art process solutions. Sulzer will strengthen its leadership in petrochemical processes while expanding its revenue base to process licensing, associated proprietary equipment, and chemicals.

Sulzer has long been a well-respected company within the petrochemical and refining industry.  Since 1834, their headquarters has been in Winterthur, Switzerland. The company’s core strengths are flow control and applicators; specialized pumping solutions and services for rotating equipment; as well as separation, mixing and application technology. Sulzer is the largest supplier of tower internals in the world with a network of over 180 production and service sites in around 50 countries. In 2018, Sulzer achieved sales of about US$3.34 billion with approximately 15,500 employees.

Work on a day-to-day basis at GTC will remain the same with Pinti Wang continuing as President of GTC, with the primary management team continuing in their roles. Within the next few weeks, joint GTC/Sulzer integration task forces will be formed to assure an alignment of our business processes and enable a meaningful step-by-step integration into the Sulzer environment.
