Topsøe signs agreement to purchase land in China

On June 15th 2012 Haldor Topsøe has signed the agreement with TEDA to purchase land for a new catalyst plant in the Tianjin city of China.

Corporation between Denmark and China
Topsoe has been present in China for more than 50 years and the land purchase is in line with Topsoe strategy to strengthen and expand the cooperation between Denmark and China. Topsoe is leading within research and development of environmental technology, and the company acknowledges that energy efficiency and environment are now highly placed on the Chinese government's agenda.

Doubling of turnover
With the new plant Topsoe expects a considerable increase in turnover. “We will invest a significant amount in the project. But within a couple of years we expect to double our annual turnover in China,” says Ulrik Federspiel, Executive Vice President, Haldor Topsoe.

With the purchase of the land the new plant will join two existing plants, one in Denmark and one in USA.

Local growth
The catalyst plant is planned to start operating in early 2014 and will in a longer perspective employ around 100 people, which will provide growth for the local community and Tianjin city. The catalyst production in China will have no negative effect on Topsoe’s activities in Denmark. It will on the contrary most likely generate an increased production in order to support the Chinese production.

Signing the agreement
The agreement was signed by Dr. Haldor Topsøe and Mr. Wang Qiang, Vice Chairman of TEDA at Moltkes Palæ in the presence of Chinese Vice Premier Minister Wang Qishan, Minister of Commerce Chen Deming, Dr. Nan Topsøe, Vice president, Haldor Topsøe and Ulrik Federspiel, Executive Vice President, Haldor Topsøe during Chinese president Hu Jintao’s state visit to Denmark.
