Emerson offers free online tool to aid WirelessHART network planning

Emerson Process Management now offers an online planning tool to help process industry facilities get started with wireless. Backed by Emerson’s proven experience in Smart Wireless network applications, the Smart Wireless Planning Tool encourages users to test out plant network configurations and application possibilities in their facility before investing in wireless technology. Not only can users set specific limitations, parameters, and standards for their network, they can also verify their configuration against proven industry best practices and gain recommendations for increasing the robustness of their network design. Best practices recommendations reflect the industry-proven suggestions found in the IEC 62591 WirelessHART System Engineering Guide from the HART Communications Foundation.

Users can also save their network configuration for future reference and revision. If the facility chooses to invest in Smart Wireless, the saved network configuration can be imported to the AMS Wireless SNAP-ON™ application for network management and predictive diagnostics.

Emerson’s Smart Wireless portfolio includes a wide range of wireless services and devices, including Fisher® position monitors, FIELDVUE digital valve controllers, Rosemount® and Rosemount Analytical transmitters, and CSI vibration monitors --  as well as native wireless interfaces to AMS Suite predictive maintenance software, the DeltaV™ and Ovation™ digital automation systems.
