Petrom has completed upgrading the crude oil distillation unit Petrobrazi

Petrom, the largest oil and gas in South East Europe, has energized the oil distillation unit upgraded from Petrobrazi in the scheduled shutdown of six weeks.  Investment to modernize the unit was approximately 100 million euros. Petrobrazi operations were resumed this week.
 
Neil Anthony Morgan, member of Petrom, responsible for Refining and Marketing: "Refineries in Romania produce gasoline in excess of demand, while, for diesel, about 30% of needs comes from imports. The new unit is very important in the modernization of the refinery, as will enable us to improve the product mix to meet market demand.

The main purpose of upgrading the plant was entirely technical adjustment to process its own domestic oil production and will increase the share of diesel in product mix and improve energy efficiency.

Proposed upgrade of the distillation of crude oil began in 2009 and commissioning was conducted in general programmed shutdown, which began in May 2012. In parallel with the commissioning of the unit have conducted a series of modernization projects and maintenance.

"It was a great challenge, probably the most complex operation in the history of the refinery.  About 4,500 people from more than 100 companies, direct suppliers and subcontractors, have developed 60 projects to successful completion in record time, setting the unit, "added Morgan.

By 2014, Petrom invests 600 million euros in order to increase efficiency Petrobrazi and integration to maximize the value of the unit.  From this budget, 400 million have been invested. Next steps in further upgrading the refinery to increase oil production.
