TNK-BP fully converts Saratov refinery and YANOS to production of Euro-5 motor fuels

TNK-BP announces that as of July 01, 2012 the Saratov Oil Refinery (SNPZ - a subsidiary of TNK-BP) and Yaroslavnefteorgsintez (YANOS forms part of Slavneft, which is owned by TNK-BP and Gazprom Neft on a parity basis) had been fully converted to the production of Euro-5 environmental class motor fuels.

As part of a sweeping programme to convert all TNK-BP refineries to production of high-octane environmentally clean fuel, SNPZ and YANOS began producing Euro-5 standard fuel on July 01. The projects included expansion of the diesel fuel hydro treatment unit at SNPZ and the commissioning of isomerization and alkylation units at YANOS to produce components for motor gasolines. In addition, SNPZ plans to commission an isomerization unit in 2013 to boost high-octane gasoline production volumes.

Mikhail Davydov, TNK-BP Senior Vice President, Refining, said “The conversion to exclusive production of Euro-5 quality fuel has been possible thanks to TNK-BP’s refinery upgrade programme. All the Company’s refineries are now producing Euro-5 standard fuels, and at SNPZ and YANOS these account for 100% of output. Investment in modernization projects from 2012 to 2015 will amount to $2.5 billion.
