Topsoe catalysis forum dedicated to the Haldor Topsøe centennial

Every year since 2004 Topsoe has invited highly recognized scientists from both academia and industry to Denmark to participate in Topsoe Catalysis Forum which is a platform Topsoe has established for knowledge-sharing and discussions of new reactions and new principles in catalysis.

This year Topsoe is proud to announce that Topsoe Catalysis Forum 2012 with Microscopy in Catalysis as topic is dedicated to Dr. Haldor Topsøe’s Centennial which will culminate with Haldor Topsøe’s 100th birthday on May 24, 2013.

Research and development is fundamental
”Fundamental scientific research and development is important to Topsoe and a crucial element in Dr. Haldor Topsøe’s vision of a groundbreaking company with a long range view on establishment of sustainable solutions. Catalysis research based on various types of microscopy has for the last decades been one of Topsoe’s scientific focus areas as well as one of Dr. Haldor Topsøe’s personal key points of interest. We therefore found it natural to choose that as this year’s topic,” says Jesper Nerlov, Executive Vice President, R&D Topsoe.

Microscopy in Catalysis
The aim of Topsoe Catalysis Forum on Microscopy in Catalysis is to review state-of-the-art microscope techniques, their applications and challenges when used as tools for understanding heterogeneous catalysis. The aim is also to discuss how microscopy techniques can be further developed to provide catalysis insights beyond current possibilities.

Background of Topsoe Catalysis Forum
In line with Dr. Haldor Topsøe’s ambition always to look beyond the horizon for new ideas within research, Topsoe Catalysis Forum was established in 2004 as a framework for an open exchange of views on catalysis. In order to facilitate an open debate and to ensure that all participants can use the information conceived during the meetings in their future work, the forums are held on a non-confidential basis.

Former topics at Topsoe Catalysis Forum
Catalysis and future energy (2011)
Catalysis in new refinery processes (2010)
Catalysis in new environmental processes (2009)
The role of catalysis in conversion of biomass (2008)
Sulfur management (2007)
Future hydrogen generation and application (2006)
Zeolites in catalysis (2005)
