ARL achieves ISO 50001 compliance
Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) has made yet another achievement by implementing Energy Management System ISO 50001:2011.
This represents another “First” for ARL which is Pakistan’s first Refinery to receive ISO 9001 Certification (in 2001), ISO 14001 (in 2002), OHSAS 18001 Certification (in 2006) and ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation (in 2007). This International Standard enables an organization to establish the systems and processes necessary to improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, use, and consumption. Implementation of this standard leads to reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, energy cost, and other related environmental impacts, through systematic management of energy.
As a responsible corporate entity, ARL is cognizant that natural energy resources are not only scarce but also very precious and need to be optimally utilized. Besides energy management, it positively impacts environment and goes a long way in reducing green house gases and other hazardous emissions.
It is pertinent to mention that ARL is a member of the Attock Oil Group of Companies, the only fully integrated Group covering all segments of oil and gas industry from exploration, production and refining to marketing of petroleum products, besides being also engaged in power generation, manufacturing and trading of cement and other entrepreneurial activities
