Fluor celebrates 25 years in the Philippines

Fluor Corporation announced today that it celebrated the company’s 25th anniversary of continuous operations in the Philippines. Fluor management and employees in Manila and Cebu commemorated the important milestone with several events in both cities highlighted by the attendance of local dignitaries, Fluor senior executives and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Seaton.

“Our employees should be proud of this incredible milestone,” said David Seaton. “The phenomenal growth of this office is directly attributable to the high skill level and positive attitude of our engineers and technical personnel here in Manila and Cebu. It is also a reflection of the outstanding engineering education programs in the Philippines. As Fluor continues to expand its operations globally, both our local and global clients will continue to benefit from the expertise of the talented group of professionals we have here in the Philippines.”

“We have come a long way since we first began providing engineering support services to other Fluor offices 25 years ago,” said Dan Spinks, vice president and general manager of Fluor’s Philippines operations. “Today, we now offer a full range of project execution and EPCM services and we also feature two of the fastest growing offices in our global network with more than 2,200 professionals in Cebu and Manila.”

Fluor opened its first Philippines office in Manila in 1987 with 57 employees. In 2011, Fluor opened its second office in the Philippines by expanding into Cebu. Today, more than 2,200 local professionals in engineering, procurement, finance, IT and other disciplines provide world class support on Fluor’s capital projects in the oil and gas, chemicals, power, and mining and metals industries.

Established as a global execution center, the Manila office initially supported other Fluor offices in the global network enabling the company to provide clients engineering, design and technical services 24 hours a day. Over the years, the office has grown and expanded its capabilities and now offers a complete suite of full-service engineering, procurement, construction management and project management services. The two offices support projects in locations as diverse as the Middle East, South America, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, China and the Philippines.

Fluor's Philippines operations center is currently working on a depletion compression platform for the Malampaya Phase 3 Project, which when completed, will ensure continued supply of natural gas to power about 40 percent of the electricity for the island of Luzon.
