Topsoe signs investment agreement with TEDA

Haldor Topsoe and TEDA this week signed an investment agreement including the purchase of 67.000 m2 land. The agreement is an extension of the memorandum of understanding between Topsoe and TEDA signed in June this year.

The investment agreement is part of a process that in phases will lead to the construction of Topsoe’s third catalyst plant – the two others placed in Denmark and in Houston.

The plant will produce catalysts which, either when used alone or combined with exhaust after treatment systems, will contribute to the reduction of emissions.

Energy efficiency and environment
Topsoe is leading within research and development of environmental technology, and acknowledges that energy efficiency and environment are now highly placed on the Chinese government's agenda.

“In order to achieve their ambitious five-year plan, already next year China is expected to initiate new regulations on the environmental area. We are proud that our future production will support China in the achievement of their environmental goals,” says Bjerne S. Clausen, CEO, Haldor Topsoe

Helle Thorning-Schmidt present at signing ceremony
The agreement was signed by CEO Bjerne S. Clausen and Mr. He, Chairman of TEDA at a ceremony in the Tianjin municipality. Present at the ceremony were the Tianjin mayor Mr. Huang Xinggou, several prominent Chinese business representatives and the Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and her official delegation.

“The presence of Mr. Huang Xinggou, the other high level representatives, and Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt serves s an endorsement of our agreement and of the cooperation between China and Denmark. That is important to us and to our business partners,” says Bjerne S. Clausen
