TNK-BP to invest $45M to cut emissions
ТNК-ВРwill invest $45 million to revamp its flaring systems at the Ryazan Refinery (Ryazan Oil Refining Company, or RORC, part of TNK-BP Group). In 2012, the Company will spend $3 million with plans to ratchet it up to as high as $8.5 million in 2013.
The program is designed to completely replace the process equipment of the Ryazan Refinery flare units before 2015. New advanced systems will be used instead to compress exhaust gases and pump them back into the process loop.
The project, which is part of a much bigger plan to retool the entire refinery in line with world-class standards, will considerably improve safety and reduce polluting emissions helping minimize the environmental impact. The streamlined process will also save crude feed and thus enhance the refinery throughput and performance.
“TNK-BP has been consistently working towards more efficient and environmentally friendly production practices. The flare upgrade project is part of a long-term program to refurbish all refining assets at the Ryazan Refinery that will add up to $2.5 billion by 2015”, said Anatoly Skoromets, General Director, RORC.
