ITT VP Charles Cappellino recognized for contributions to hydraulic institute

Charles Cappellino, vice president of research, development and engineering at ITT Corporation's Industrial Process business, has been recognized by the Hydraulic Institute (HI) for his leadership in helping develop two new pump industry standards. Cappellino leads product development efforts for the company's Goulds Pumps brand and other leading product lines.

Cappellino served as vice-chair of two HI committees, both commissioned to create a new American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/HI Standard for rotodynamic (centrifugal) pumps, which have rotating impellers to increase pressure and flow rate of a fluid. The new standards provide operating principles for rotodynamic pumps to ensure longer performance life, better reliability and lower energy consumption.

"These two new standards give pump operators important information they need to know about determining the preferred operating region and net positive suction head for pumps," said Robert J. Pagano Jr., president of ITT Industrial Process. "Charlie has moved the industry forward in his work with the Hydraulic Institute, and has driven innovation, design and product development at ITT."

Cappellino has more than 30 years of experience at ITT, designing and developing industrial pumping products. He coordinates new product development programs and has designed pump and valve equipment for the chemical, paper, refinery, biopharmaceutical and general industrial markets.
