Alfa Laval acquires provider of niche heat transfer products to the U.S. energy market

Alfa Laval, a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has acquired U.S.-based Niagara Blower Company (NBCo), a manufacturer of energy-efficient niche heat transfer solutions. The company’s products are engineered-to-order, and particularly suited for use in the oil and gas processing industries. They are also used in a wide range of other industries, such as power, food & beverage and pharmaceuticals.

Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group, comments on the reasons for the acquisition: “The acquisition of Niagara Blower brings in new and complementary heat-transfer products, mainly air-cooled heat exchangers, which further strengthen our offering to the oil and gas processing industries. They strengthen our U.S. portfolio and will gradually also be added to our product offering on a global scale.”

Niagara Blower Company is located in Buffalo, New York. It generated sales of about SEK 425 million in 2012, with profitability well above the average for the Alfa Laval Group. The intention is to integrate Niagara Blower into the segment Energy & Environment, within the Process Technology Division. The company, which has some 120 employees, was acquired on May 29, 2013.
