Shri M Venkatesh takes over as Director Refinery, MRPL

Shri M. Venkatesh, appointed by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, GoI, on 7th January 2015, has taken charge as Director Refinery of MRPL (Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd), post superannuation of Shri Vijay G. Joshi.

Prior to this Shri M. Venkatesh  was Group General Manager in-charge of Refinery at MRPL, Mangaluru.

A Chemical Engineer from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) Karnataka, Shri Venkatesh started his career spanning 27 years, as a trainee at the downstream behemoth of India, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd in 1988. He honed his expertise in Technical services while at Indian Oil Mathura Refinery and later at Guwahati Refinery, spearheading various process improvements and  energy conservation measures.

In 1994 Shri Venkatesh joined MRPL as a Deputy Manager in the Technical Services Stream and played a key role in  the construction to commissioning of the Phase-Iof MRPL  and later in Phase II of the Refinery complex.

Shri Venkatesh’s strategic thinking, ability to innovate and technical prowess pitchforked him into being centrestage in conceptualising Isomerization and Mixed Xylene Complexes in MRPL.

The recently completed Rs 15000/- crore Phase III Upgradation and Expansion Project, that is propelling the next phase of growth for MRPL, is a fitting statement of Shri Venkatesh’s capability.  He has played a strategic role in the robust integration of MRPL and the ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd.

A mind mannered technocrat, Shri Venkatesh brings to the table perseverance and grit along with his competencies. His priority will be to ensure sustainable growth and delivering value to the stakeholders.
