Yokogawa to supply control system for ethylene plant to be built by Toyo Engineering
Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its subsidiary, Yokogawa Solution Service Corporation, has received an order to deliver control system solutions for an ethylene plant that will be built in Plaquemine, Louisiana for Shintech Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. The order is from Toyo Engineering Corporation, the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for this project. The new plant will have an annual output of 500,000 tons.
Ethylene is a basic feedstock used in the production of many different kinds of chemicals. The construction of this ethylene plant in the U.S. is a first for a company with roots in the Japan market. To control the main production facilities at this plant, Yokogawa Solution Service will deliver the CENTUM® VP integrated production control system, the ProSafe®-RS safety instrumentation system, and other products. Yokogawa believes that it was able to win this order thanks to the high reliability of its products and its solid track record in delivering solutions for projects in Japan, through which it has demonstrated excellent engineering and project execution capabilities.
Capitalizing on its Japan expertise, large installed base, and global network, Yokogawa Solution Service is helping its customers expand their businesses outside Japan.
