hte supports Saudi Aramco with a state-of-the-art high throughput experimentation facility

hte – the high throughput experimentation company and leading provider of technology solutions and services for customers in the energy, refining, chemicals and environmental sectors, announced today that it will provide Saudi Aramco with the latest generation of laboratory equipment for highly efficient research & development (R&D) in 2016.

Saudi Aramco, a fully-integrated, global energy and chemicals enterprise and a world leader in exploration and production, refining and distribution, and the world’s top exporter of crude oil and natural gas liquids, is building a high throughput lab in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, dedicated to catalysis research as part of its continued investment in innovation.

“This collaboration brings a great opportunity for hte to further expand our reach in the Middle East,” commented Wolfram Stichert, hte’s CEO.  “With our innovative, all-in-one approach we are able to offer synthesis solutions and testing capabilities as a part of our workflows.”

By creating a new, high throughput experimentation facility, Saudi Aramco is expanding its research focus on chemicals, in line with their 2020 Accelerated Transformation Process. As a continuing collaborator of Saudi Aramco in the field of HTE (high throughput experimentation), hte delivers an all-in-one solution for heterogeneous catalysis, comprising several 16-fold HTE catalyst testing systems with volumes of 1 – 15ml and catalyst synthesis and screening  tools provided by Chemspeed Technologies AG, a company specializing in the automation of synthesis protocols. The tailor-made workflow is fully integrated in the lab processes of Saudi Aramco. At the core of this is the software solution myhte4, which merges data from all possible sources in the laboratory. Subsequently, all collected data, such as from synthesis, testing or sample logistics, run into enhanced analysis and reporting.

“We were looking for a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution with robust and flexible testing rigs. Due to its reputation and leadership in the HT field, we selected hte,” said Ammar Al-Nahwi, Manager of the R&D Center at Saudi Aramco. “hte has the experience in setting up an HT lab organization and also a broad knowledge of the Middle Eastern market. With this innovative ‘lab of the future’ in Dhahran, we will boost our R&D and take our catalytic technologies more rapidly to market.”
