Gazprom completes large-scale reconstruction of residue deep conversion complex
Reconstruction of the KT-1/1 atmospheric residue deep conversion complex at the Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery is now complete, with modernisation resulting in a 15-percent increase in production at the plant’s catalytic cracking facility, to 2.4 million tonnes per year. Total investment in the reconstruction of the complex now stands at around RUB6 billion.
The reconstructed KT-1/1 complex is of key significance to the Omsk Refinery processing chain. It is the only fuel complex in Russia bringing together a number of cutting-edge technologies — from vacuum distillation to production of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE). Redevelopment of the facility has included construction of an equipment room meeting all current health and safety requirements; the installation of two additional reactors within the hydro-treatment section; the replacement of a cracking chamber and dome; and the internal configuration of the catalytic cracking reactor.
Capacity at the complex has been increased as a result of modernisation, with production at the plant’s KT-1/1 catalytic cracking facility increasing by 15 percent, to 2.4 million tonnes per year. The plant has also seen greater automation in the management of technological processes, with the complete replacement of the automation system meaning control and emergency shutdown systems have now been brought together onto a single platform, allowing a single uniform system for technological and system data capture and archiving to be implemented.
