Did you know? REMBE® KUB V rupture disc saves time and money
Are you looking for a way to protect your expensive safety relief valves from corrosive or troubling process environments and reduce their cost? Are you lying awake at night hoping for a way to help your maintenance team perform the periodic pressure test on your safety relief valves faster and cheaper? The REMBE® KUB V process rupture disc may be the solution for you.
The KUB V rupture disc is designed specifically for installation between your process equipment and your safety relief valve in order to save you time and money. Here’s how:
1. The KUB V is virtually leak tight (reduces total capital cost and improves emissions)
2. THE KUB V is rated for high back pressure (reduces the time to conduct the periodic pressure
3. The KUB V has industry-leading operating ratio (reduces premature bursting and frequency of downtime)
Finally, a leak tight solution!
The virtually leak tight seal of the REMBE® KUB V prevents corrosives or other toxics within your process from contacting your safety relief valve during normal operation. If you use a safety relief valve alone for overpressure protection of a process which contains corrosive substances, the safety relief valve is typically constructed of a relatively expensive alloy material. Install the KUB V between the corrosive process and the safety relief valve and only the KUB V has to be constructed of the corrosive resistant alloy while the safety relief valve may be constructed of a simpler, less expensive base metal. Typically the cost of the alloy KUB V and base metal safety relief valve is less than the cost of an alloy safety relief valve. The result: capital cost savings.
Added value: with the KUB V in place between the process and the safety relief valve, the service life of the safety relief valve will likely be extended since it is experiencing reduced exposure to the process pressure. This extension of service-life delays the need for capital investment for replacement safety relief valves.
Added value: emissions, which typically result from incomplete seating of the safety relief valve, will be reduced since the rupture disc is virtually leak tight. This means improved compliance with emissions requirements and reduced service requirements for emissions control systems.
High back pressure rating will save you money...
REMBE® KUB V is rated in the reverse direction at a pressure that is 135% of the rated burst pressure. This is a subtle aspect that allows significant savings. The high back pressure rating of the KUB V allows the safety relief valve to be pressure tested “in-situ”. In other words, your maintenance team does not have to remove the safety relief valve to perform its periodic pressure test! They can test while the safety relief valve is in place! Think of the time savings if you can pressure test of the safety relief valve in place—up to 75% vs. conventional pressure testing; think of the errors you avoid that may otherwise occur during pressure testing at a remote shop!
Industry-leading operating ratio
KUB V has an industry-leading operating ratio (“OR”) of as high as 98%. (The OR of a disc is the pressure relative to its minimum burst pressure up to which the disc may be exposed without affecting its proper operation.) A disc exposed to a process pressure above its OR may burst prematurely or not burst at all—you know the potentially severe consequences of either scenario! For KUB V, with its relatively high OR, the process may be operated at pressures relatively close to its rated burst pressure without affecting its proper operation. This means, if needed, you can operate at pressure levels that are relatively close to the rated burst pressure of the KUB V and it will hold its as-fabricated burst pressure range. (Operating at relatively high pressure may be desirable for certain processes in order to achieve higher selectivity, higher yield, higher production rate, or improved product quality.)
Another benefit: the rated burst pressure of the disc has a very tight tolerance. The probability of bursting outside of pressure tolerance range is incredibly low. You benefit from high on-stream rates as required and maximized production.
