Many have asked what’s so different about the new Neles NDX 2.0 valve controller. While there are several technical developments worth discussing, we’ll start by looking at the considerable increase in the potential to improve the sustainability of valve assemblies and the processes they are a part of.
The new Neles NDX has a far greater versatility for different actuator types and sizes. The 2.0 is pretty much a universal, one for all solution that serves equally well in both linear and rotary valve applications. When the valve assembly uses less pressurized air during its operation, it means that the energy consumption of every valve assembly fitted with an Neles NDX 2.0 valve controller potentially consumes 90% less electricity and therefore also causes 90% less CO2 emissions compared to a competing valve assembly.
The improved sustainability obviously also goes hand in hand with monetary savings. Major reductions in energy consumption in valve applications can already been seen on a process or plant level as improved profitability. When improvements and advances in technology result in both better environmental performance and long-term financial benefits, it is hard to find a reason not to jump on board.

Can control performance also contribute to sustainability?
Absolutely. Control performance and superior accuracy obviously have a great effect on the quality of the process and the output. The primary benefit from accuracy is the better yield and profitability of the process due to less process variability. But just like the case is with improved energy efficiency, improved accuracy also delivers on the environmental performance front.
With more relevant process output, improved control performance helps significantly reduce process waste. The Neles NDX 2.0 not only maintains steady performance in long-running processes, but also reacts fast to changes in the process due to scheduled grade changes or other intentional process adjustments.
