Continental Refining Company secures crude oil supply contract with Sunoco Partners
Continental Refining Company Secures Crude Oil Supply Contract with Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals LP. Reliable Supply Will Ensure Consistent Operations at Kentucky Refinery.
Continental Refining Company is proud to announce its newest relationship with crude oil supplier Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals LP and Regal Fuels. The relationship marks a major milestone for Continental Refining Company because it will eliminate any disruptions in supply of crude oil for Continental’s Kentucky refinery operations.
Continental Refining Company purchased the then-closed Somerset, Kentucky refinery in December 2011 and immediately began updating the industrial process plant’s operations. Reopened, the Continental plant is the only oil refinery within a 170-mile radius, which results in significantly decreased transportation costs.
“This contract marks an important step in the advancement and efficiencies taking place at Continental Refining Company,” Said Continental Refining Company CEO Demetrios Haseotes. “We are very excited about this relationship because Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals LP’s substantial assets and resources provide Continental with a consistent supply of crude oil to the refinery.”
Continental Refining will receive crude oil by truck, rail, pipeline and barge at the refinery in Somerset, Kentucky.
It’s terminal will also provide enhanced logistics for clean products in South Central Kentucky and Northern Tennessee. To augment its existing markets, Continental recently secured a contract with Lykins Oil Company of Milford, Ohio to exclusively market the cleaned products. Continental has also established a relationship with Freepoint Commodities LLC of Stamford, Connecticut to market its clean residual fuels.
