The first-phase of Xinjiang first coal-to-gas project completed and put into operation
The first-phase of Xinjiang first CTG project has been completed and put into operation, represented a great breakthrough in the application of fixed-bed coal pressure gasification technology and scaled-up CTG production in China. The 5.5 billion cubic meters per year project is the first CTG project approved by state in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and also one of the flagship projects of Xinjiang energy resource development.
The first-phase of Xinjiang Qinghua Energy Group’s coal-to-natural gas (CTG) project was completed and put into operation on August 20th. This is the first CTG project approved by state with an annual capacity of 5.5 billion cubic meters in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and also one of the flagship projects of Xinjiang energy resource development. This represents a great breakthrough in the application of fixed-bed coal pressure gasification technology and scaled-up CTG production in China.
By the end of July, 11 billion RMB has been spent for the first-phase project which has an annual production capacity of 1.375 billion cubic meters, including 1.6 billion RMB for environmental protection, accounting for 14.5% of its total investment.” said Mr Xu Zhong, General Manager of Xinjiang Qinghua Energy Group, “Natural gas produced by the first-phase CTG project is currently flowing into the West-East natural gas pipeline operated by PetroChina.”
The reported coal reserve in Xinjiang is 2.19 trillion tones, making up to 40% of total national reserves. According to preliminary statistics, there are 30 CTG projects in Xinjiang under construction and in preliminary work. If all come to fruition, a total of over 15 billion cubic meters per year will be achieved. ( Reported by Sun Tingwen and Ji Xianfeng)
