Capabilities extension for ROSNEFT gasoline blending station in Achinsk
Modcon has started a project which includes existing gasoline in-line blending capabilities extension at ROSNEFT Achinsk Refinery. The main purpose of this project is to enable refinery manufacturing of high-octane gasoline in strict accordance with new legislation requirements.
The Achinsk Refinery processed 7.46 mln tones (54.6 mln barrels) of crude oil. Following launch of an isomerization unit in 2007 and gasoline blending unit in 2011, Achinsk produces the largest quantity of class-3 and -4 automotive gasoline among Rosneft refineries. Refinery outputs will meet class-5 fuel standards as a result of the work, which includes installation of delayed coking and hydrocracking units, a second stage of isomerization unit, and a new reforming unit to replace the existing one. Design work was carried out in the reporting year, orders were placed for main equipment and the construction site was prepared.
As with many other Siberian plants, Achinsk Refinery is relatively new. The plant construction began in 1972, and ten years later, the first petroleum products were produced. In 1993, a comprehensive plant modernization program was launched, which allowed significantly increasing crude throughput as well as diversifying the product mix and improving its quality. Achinsk refinery is the only major refinery in the Krasnoyarsk territory, and is a key petroleum product supplier to the neighboring regions.
