From PetroChina News Center (reported by Jin Xiangxian), Acrylic ester unit for heavy component cracking system revamp project in Calcium Carbide Factory, Jilin Petrochemical Company was completed and started up successfully in one try on November 19. This system is to recover heavy components, such as butanol and butyl ester, and is expected to gain more than 2 million RMB annually.
To complete the revamp smoothly, Factory set up a project research group to resolve heavy components recovery and purification issue. After a number of simulations and repeated demonstrations, they decided to install a heavy component cracker to purify the heavy components through cracking. Commissioning test shows that nearly 8 kg butanol and 10 kg butyl ester can be recycled from 1000 kg heavy components, and an annual efficiency of more than 2 million RMB is expected based on the calculation of current unit production capacity.
