Intertek opens new petroleum and residual fuel oil laboratory in Louisiana
Intertek, the leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has opened a new petroleum and residual fuel oil testing laboratory in Harvey, Louisiana, close to several major petroleum refineries and tank storage facilities. The new laboratory is over 8,000 square feet in size, and offers full 24/7 analytical services, expertise, and support to many refineries and clients in the area. Replacing an older facility in Gretna, the new Harvey laboratory is purpose built, and supports both local and regional customers with a range of testing and inspection services.
The ISO certified laboratory conforms to ASTM, IP, ISO and other industry standard methodology to provide quality control testing on feed-stocks, petroleum refined products, and asphalt.
The Harvey facility is part of a global network of laboratories and works with other Intertek labs in Louisiana and around the world to provide clients with extended expertise, services, and quality results. In-house expertise and analytical resources provide clients with problem solving solutions, trace contamination identification, and advanced fuel analysis. Intertek’s USA fuel laboratories operate at world-class standards supporting refinery, pipeline, terminal storage, and other oil & gas operations.
“Intertek is committed to supporting the growing oil refining and bunkering operations occurring in the Gulf Coast region”, said Billy McInnis, Senior Director, East Gulf Coast USA, for petroleum analytical assessment and cargo inspection services, “With industry expansion being driven from an increased supply of shale oil and gas, Intertek is expanding our capabilities as well, to better help our clients maintain and grow quality control, reduce business risks, and meet regulatory compliance.”
