SK Engineering & Construction implements Intergraph SmartPlant enterprise
SK Engineering & Construction (SKEC), a leading engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services company and part of South Korea’s SK Group, has implemented a fully integrated Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise solution to optimize its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) process systems for project control and execution.
Intergraph’s industry leading SmartPlant Enterprise is being used to check consistency, find faults and mismatch, ensure project delivery from engineering to procurement and construction, and to manage final client handover. It enables SKEC to rapidly find, capture, organize, link and visualize large volumes of information through a simple web portal.
To meet its growth targets and the service demands of its customers, SKEC sought a more intelligent, integrated, collaborative and optimized EPC process system. It selected the integrated environment provided by SmartPlant Enterprise and the specific functionality of Intergraph Smart™ 3D, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Electrical and SmartPlant Foundation.
SKEC has used Intergraph products for more than 15 years, but each application has been adopted in isolation for individual engineering disciplines such as piping, process and instrumentation and control – particularly for oil and gas projects in the Middle East and Asia. By moving to integration mode, it will maximize engineering quality improvements.
Jinwoo Joo, IT Plant EPC System manager of the SK Engineering & Construction Plant EPC system, said, “We have examples such as the US$2 billion project in Abu Dhabi, with more than 1,200 activities running in parallel, where we needed to deploy innovative work processes and manage detailed schedules. With the integrated Intergraph solution, we are now able to reduce our risk exposure and lift project execution and customer satisfaction.”
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, “We are pleased that SK Engineering & Construction has selected Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise to optimize productivity at all stages of the project lifecycle, from engineering to client handover. The move to integration mode allows SKEC to leverage project information and knowledge to improve and automate work processes, boosting collaboration and effectiveness.”
Intergraph’s SmartPlant Enterprise offers a powerful portfolio of industry-leading, best-in-class design and data management solutions, enabling companies in the process, power, and marine industries to capture integrated engineering knowledge at the enterprise level for the competitive advantage needed in today’s and tomorrow’s market. SmartPlant Enterprise’s integrated suite of solutions enable proven productivity gains, improving engineering efficiency by up to 30 percent.
