GE Oil & Gas announces its newly fortified reciprocating compression business
GE Oil & Gas today announced the establishment of a consolidated Reciprocating Compression (RC) business, bringing together its previous Gas Production and Distribution product line and the Reciprocating Compressor product line acquired from Cameron in June 2014. This positions the new RC business to work seamlessly with its global customers and partners to deliver reciprocating compression innovation and technology that optimizes the production and distribution of natural gas.
GE put its expertise to work by taking advantage of its GE turbomachinery heritage; from R&D through project engineering, financing, global support infrastructure, and 24/7 service capability. GE delivers reliability and availability for end-users everywhere, every day that enhances their operations while providing lower lifecycle costs.
“Reciprocating compressors are the heart of natural gas production”, said Rich Stegall, General Manager of RC. “Because of this, quality and reliability are particularly key. Our new business offers the highest industry standards for both, while maintaining high environmental standards, and continually seeking to reduce costs. The success of the new consolidated business approach can already be seen in a series of significant contract wins, including an $8 million order from EmbaMunaiGas in Kazakhstan and a $7.1 million order from Engro in Pakistan.”
Over the last fifty years, the Ajax line of slow-speed integral gas engine-compressors has earned an industry-wide reputation for extreme reliability (98 per cent or greater availability), that lowers operating and maintenance costs. GE will be introducing the ultra-low emissions (ULE) Ajax 2800 series in 2Q 2015 that will be the first of its product line to emit less than 0.5 g/bhph NOx.* Growing emission concerns and regulations internationally in countries of the EU, the US, and India for example, are driving the demand for lower emission compliant products like the Ajax ULE compressors.
The quality and reliability of the legacy Superior and Gemini-brand high-speed separable reciprocating compressors and Superior engines has led to their installation in more than 70 countries. Purpose-built, flexible systems can be reconfigured as field conditions change over time. This provides GE’s customers with an ideal solution to adapt to conditions that reduce downtime, while also reducing costs.
GE’s advanced engineering capabilities and diagnostic services are complimented by an expert team of field engineers, positioned to provide convenient and responsive support anywhere in the world. Utilizing the company’s strategically-located facilities and inventory, the global support network can quickly address customer’s needs, whether they are replacement parts, upgrades, repair shops and field or remote services.
