Metso flow control has been involved in over 100 shutdowns and turnarounds globally in 2016
Customers in various industry sectors have continued to rely on Metso's flow control services to secure plant reliability and safety in 2016. During the past year alone, Metso's flow control specialists were involved in over 100 shutdowns and turnarounds globally. The year was a continuation of the success during 2015.
Services that feature professional planning, efficient execution and on-time startup have proven to ensure safety as well as high plant availability and reliability until the next planned shutdown. Thorough shutdown planning combined with detailed installed base information provides plants with an opportunity to increase their profits, too.
"Refineries, petrochemical, natural gas and biofuel plants as well as pulp mills have seen the benefits and therefore are increasingly choosing our strong service knowledge and unrivaled capabilities. Our scope of offering today includes tailored solutions related to shutdowns, in-depth shutdown knowledge and professional services," says Anne Hassinen, Manager, Shutdown Business Management, Flow Control, Metso.
Efficient shutdown execution and a smooth startup call for a well-planned shutdown scope, actions, materials and resources, and all these can be determined through Metso's shutdown solutions. Valve maintenance planning for a turnaround project is always preceded by close cooperation between the customer and Metso. Having Metso as a partner for shutdown planning ensures the availability of the correct materials and resources, when needed, and minimizes risks.
In addition to flow control, Metso offers professional shutdown services for its mining, aggregates and recycling customers.
Ensuring availability and avoiding unplanned shutdowns with better information about the installed base
Plants are increasingly moving towards criticality- and reliability-based maintenance to ensure availability and avoid unplanned costly shutdowns. Metso's Installed Base Management Services provide an efficient tool to improve these capabilities. They enable customers to be better prepared for turnarounds and improve the long-term availability and reliability of their field devices.
"Information in asset and maintenance management systems typically becomes corrupt due to maintenance and modification actions performed over the years. However, correct information is critical when planning any upcoming maintenance actions, process improvements or turnarounds with thousands of field devices," Hassinen points out. "Through Metso's Installed Base Management Services, it is possible to build a better understanding of the installed base and its service needs. This information is of great value for our customers in upgrade, replacement and maintenance planning."
Based on process and device criticality, and on the customer's availability and reliability needs, Metso builds a comprehensive proposal with short- and long-term development roadmaps. This information helps to avoid surprises and ensures the availability of the correct materials and resources during and in between turnarounds.
