SK innovation boosts research with hte’s high throughput technology
hte, the high throughput experimentation company supplied a high throughput catalyst testing system for hydrotreating applications to SK Innovation, Korea's first and largest energy-chemical company. The unit is able to process heavy feeds, such as atmospheric residue.
hte supplied a 16-fold high throughput catalyst testing system for hydrotreating of heavy feeds to SK Innovation. This technology enables SKI to efficiently evaluate the performance of resid hydrotreating catalysts in order to maximize the output of its refining operations. After a successful validation project carried out at hte’s facility in Heidelberg, Germany, SK Innovation opted to acquire this technology. The unit was commissioned at the end of 2017 and is now fully utilized by SK Innovation.
Dr. Kim Taejin, Head of Platform Tech. R&D Center, SK Innovation says: “We selected hte for its unique technology specifically suited to processing heavy feeds such as atmospheric residue, and for its versatility in addressing a wide range of applications (diesel hydrotreatment, vacuum gas oil (VGO) hydrocracking, lubes, and many more). We are very satisfied with the data quality obtained, which matches our pilot plant data.”
“We are very proud that SK Innovation, a company at the forefront of innovation, selected hte’s technology for such a pivotal application. With our hydroprocessing technology, we serve the demand for optimized refining processes in the growing market of Asia,” comments Wolfram Stichert, CEO at hte. “We are looking forward to developing a reliable and long-lasting relationship with SK Innovation.”
