Methanol, Ammonia, GTL, MTO and other ways of gas monetisation in the CIS
The 5th annual CIS Gas monetisation conference will be held in Moscow, Russia on the 9th 10th of April. The conference will focus on the syngas and nitrogen sector of the CIS region and will discuss current projects on methanol, ammonia and its derivatives, GTL and MTO in the region. This is the only event that covers the entire spectrum and addresses all possible ways to monetise natural gas.
According to the data and analytics company, GlobalData, Russia will account for 42% of the total capacity additions in the gas processing industry in the Former Soviet Union (FSU) between 2018 and 2022. Naturally, this means that there will be more processed gas. And, of course, more processed gas means more gas monetisation projects in the region.
Currently, within Russia alone there are quite a few active and future projects on gas monetisation. Due to high prices and high demand, the methanol industry is currently enjoying a boom in the region. Several of Russia’s project owners like Shchekinoazot, Baltic Gas Chemical Company and Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk are producing methanol and its derivatives. Others, such as Phosagro, Acron, Eurochem, are focusing on ammonia and fertilizers. Urea is also produced by companies such as Uralchem, Togliattiazot and Metafrax. And last but not least, a number of major petrochemical companies - for example SIBUR and Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat - are looking into launching MTO projects.
In response to the growing interest in the industry, the CIS Gas Monetisation conference has grown from a focus day into an independent two-day conference dedicated solely to gas monetisation projects. All vendor categories actively participate in this event: almost 40% of attendees are gas project owners such as Eurochem, Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Uralchem. A further 30% of the attendees are leading licensors, like Haldor Topsoe, Dow and Stamicarbon. Aside from this, you can also expect to see consultancies and equipment, technology and services providers participating in the two-day conference.
On conference agenda are a range of technical, commercial and strategic presentations, all of which break down the most topical issues of the industry on a practical level. Some of this year’s presentations include: Georgiy Eliseev, Head of Analytics at Uralchem discussing the major ammonia production market trends in Russia; Dmitry Akishin, Head of Gas and Chemistry at Vygon Consulting giving an overview of Russia’s methanol industry; and Egor Krivchun, General Director of GIAP discussing the investment landscape of nitrogen fertilizers in the Region.
