Worley joins INEOS Styrolution at groundbreaking ceremony for Bayport ASA plant
Worley previously announced the project award for the engineering, procurement and construction management contract (EPCM) on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local government and business leaders, as well as several project vendors. In his remarks, INEOS Styrolution CEO Kevin McQuade emphasized the company’s ambitious plans for growth.
“We remain proud to have been selected by INEOS Styrolution to work with them on this significant investment and are committed to helping them execute this project successfully in support of their growth plans,” said Neil Robertson, regional managing director for Worley.
The development of the new site is part of a larger expansion plan for INEOS Styrolution in the Americas. The location of the new ASA plant was selected for its easy access to raw materials and proximity both to other INEOS facilities and customer markets.
“I am excited to see us building the most efficient dedicated ASA plant in the world, here in Bayport,” said Alexander Glueck, President Americas for INEOS Styrolution. “ASA is a versatile high performance styrenic resin. Its properties make it the material of choice for numerous outdoor applications. ASA performs greatly in exterior automotive and construction applications.”
The new site, which is designed for a production capacity of 100,000 metric tonnes per year, is expected to be operational by 2021.
