High Velocity Thermal Spray (HV TS) Advantages

With experience from hundreds of projects, not only in the power industry but also in other highly EHS sensitive industries such as nuclear and oil & gas, IGS has an unmatched track record to comply with the most stringent requirements on environment, health and safety standards.

IGS has consistently led the industry in HVTS protection for over 30 years. We operate a world-wide, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 Technology center which has allowed us to create, test and improve upon many different forms of protective cladding, specifically those suited for Boilers. IGS´s scientists routinely present and collaborate with industry experts in NACE, EPRI, IRRC etc.

IGS is the largest on-site thermal spray applicator in the world, this enables IGS to execute large scale and technically challenging projects involving work in confined spaces, with cladding of complex geometries, and executing IGS´s work under short shutdown, critical path, and time constraints.

IGS has significant operational capacity in Europe and Scandinavia, which enables IGS to rapidly deploy resources to projects of varying sizes and complexities. IGS currently has 180+ technicians worldwide and is continually increasing own workforce. IGS is able to support large crews of technicians, all with several years of experience, without any need to hire and train new people for occasional large projects.

The IGS site leadership, safety and quality control teams have extensive experience in European field operations (as over 90% of IGS´s work is on-site) and are well versed in operating under emergent/emergency mobilization conditions to have rapid response to IGS´s client’s needs.

  • Restoring production efficiency & NOx reduction by eliminating SCR fouling

Problem: SCR fouling is typically caused by refractory or insulation fibers that accumulate and block the face of the catalyst, eventually leading to substantial flow disruption and excessive pressure drops, typically worsening over time. This pressure drop and flow maldistribution will cause production ...

  • Eliminate convection section fouling by encapsulating refractory

Problem: Over time refractory ceramic fiber becomes friable. This friable dust is entrained in the post combustion flue gases and gets carried downstream, fouling convection section tubes and catalyst banks. Fig 1 shows new ceramic fiber under SEM. Fibers are continuous and intact. After heat exposure, ...

  • Eliminate fouling of radiant tubes

Problem: An increase in Bridgewall temperature can be a symptom of excessive fouling of the fired heater’s radiant tubes. These tubes tend to oxidize under operating conditions. Solution: Our patented Hot Tube Descaling service removes radiant section process tube fireside soot, scale, and fouling ...
