Intergraph releases CAESAR II 2011 R1 for integration with Smart 3D and SmartPlant review
Intergraph has released an upgraded version of CAESAR II® – the world’s most widely used pipe stress analysis software – that offers advanced integration with its market-leading plant, offshore and material handling design solutions, SmartPlant® 3D, SmartMarine® 3D and SmartPlant 3D Materials Handling Edition, collectively known as Smart 3D, and SmartPlant® Review, Intergraph’s problem-solving 3D visualization tool.
CAESAR II 2011 R1 provides existing and potential customers a fast and customizable interface between the leading pipe stress analysis software and Smart 3D, Intergraph’s next-generation design software. This new capability is a significant first step toward achieving better integration between pipe modeling, design and analysis.
This version of CAESAR II significantly reduces time and eliminates manual re-entry by transferring Smart 3D design data into the CAESAR II model. It provides a flexible, user-configurable interface with reporting messages to give more confidence to the stress analyst in the imported model, thus reducing validation time. Also, if a designer makes any changes or additions in the middle of a project, those lines can be updated in the CAESAR II stress model without it having to be re-worked.
This interface also allows the easy export of pipe stress analysis results between CAESAR II and either Smart 3D or SmartPlant Review, which makes for quicker incorporation of analysis changes during a project. This availability of results provides fast and accurate transfer of information from the stress analyst back to the piping designer and civil engineer to reduce chances of errors, thus reducing project risk.
"The new Smart 3D-CAESAR II interface will greatly reduce our modeling work load and allow a smooth data transfer from the design to the engineering environment,” said Mustafa Ömercik, pipe stress analyst with Linde AG, a longtime user of Intergraph solutions.
Patrick Holcomb, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine executive vice president of global business development and marketing, said, “The availability of CAESAR II results, to either Smart 3D or SmartPlant Review, makes routing and support changes clearly visible to the piping designer. Information entered once can be used many times, thereby reducing errors and lowering customers’ capital expenditures. This capability continues our legacy of proven CAESAR II interfaces, such as exists with CADWorx.”
The CAESAR II 2011 R1 release announcement was made in conjunction with today’s start of the two-day CADWorx® & Analysis University 2012 (CAU2012) in Houston. CAU2012 attendees can learn more on Tuesday during the “Interfacing & Sharing Data CAESAR II-SmartPlant Review” session.
The Intergraph CADWorx® & Analysis Solutions (CAS) products allow design and engineering to share relevant information seamlessly, thereby maintaining accuracy and improving efficiency. They include CAESAR II; CADWorx Plant Design Suite for AutoCAD®-based intelligent plant design modeling, process schematics and automatic production of plant design deliverables; CADWorx DraftPro™ for intelligent 2D design and layout; PV Elite® for vessel and exchanger design and analysis; and TANK™ for the design and analysis of oil storage tanks.
