India’s largest commercial organisation IndianOil opts for Axens’ AlphaButol® technology
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), India’s leading “Fortune 500” company and the largest commercial organization of the country, has chosen Axens’ AlphaButol® technology for the production of high purity 1-Butene by ethylene dimerization. An Alphabutol unit of 20,000 tons per annum capacity will be incorporated in IOCL’s Panipat naphtha cracker complex situated in the state of Haryana. Panipat is the location of IndianOil’s most state-of-the-art refinery and India’s largest naphtha steam cracker.
Based on homogeneous catalysis and associated to a low investment cost, the AlphaButol technology is designed and optimized to ensure a flexible and reliable source of high quality 1-Butene, a co-monomer for downstream Polymer units. This unit is one of three AlphaButols recently licensed in India.
